Q 5. How is the preaching work depicted in the prophecy of Joel?

5. The witnessing done in the last century was but a foretaste of a greater work to be done in our day. The prophet Joel likened the preaching activity of anointed Christians to a devastating plague of insects, including locusts. (Joel 1:4) Advancing like an army, the locusts surmount obstacles, enter into houses, and devour everything in their path. (Read Joel 2:2, 7-9.) What a vivid portrayal of the perseverance and thoroughness of God's people in carrying out the witnessing work in modern times! Foremost among the methods used by anointed Christians and their "other sheep" companions in fulfilling this prophetic picture is the house-to-house ministry. (John 10:16) How did we, Jehovah's Witnesses, come to adopt that apostolic method of preaching?

One can unequivocally destroy the JW interpretation of Joel with one scripture, Joel 2:25, which says, "And I will make compensation to you for the years that the locust, the creeping, unwinged locust, and the cockroach and the caterpillar have eaten, my great military force that I have sent among you."

According to this scripture, Jehovah himself is going to make COMPENSATION to those people who were harmed by the locust (annointed/preaching). So, is Jehovah going to undo the preaching work and make compensation to Christendom for JWs stinging preaching work?

Global Warming lie -don't be brainwashed 2008 Australia's Coldest winter???

that's right folks the world is in for global warming...you'll be dog paddling to work in ten years however.....remember the graph in "that" documentary showing temps.

well not this year temps.

are going down with melbourne australia {and many other countries} recording the "coldest winter in ten years.".

Except for the fact that global warming doesn't result in "warming" everywhere. It results in stronger weather events and dramatic weather shifts...such as Australia experiencing the coldest winter in ten years. However, I don't think a ten-year period can be used as evidence for or against global warming...too short an amount of time.

Perhaps, but the Russians, for the most part, love him, and their economy is booming. As with any geopolitical incident, the issues are complex and overlapping. The Cuban Missle Crisis delineated the sphere-of-influence concept, which the U.S. is violating. However, oil is at issue, as the U.S. and Europe helped Georgia build a pipline that circumvents Russia. Bigger issues are looming. The START treaties are due to expire starting in 2009. Bush has not even started negotiations, so the next President will have to fast-track an agreement, OR Russia can start building more nuclear weapons.

Geopolitics is based upon the premise of controlling anarchy. How is it best controlled? By Realism or Idealism? Both? Can Russia or any other major power revert to stringent Realism and succeed in a more global economy? Can Idealism constrain bad behavior?

It will be interesting to watch.

Generation change & Michael/Jesus - wife's bible study

sat in on my wife's bible study tonight, next week the husband of her study sister is coming with her, he is actually the presiding overseer of the congregation.

tried to get me to talk about trinity next week, but the topics will be either generation or michael.. .

the sister pointed to the statement in matthew on generation, i believe it was matthew 24:14 and said that since jesus was talking to his disciples, that equates to the anointed.

I asked about the heavenly calling being reopened and she said that is not the case, she said that all that is going on is replacements for those of the remnant who have gone astray.

I don't have the most current CD-rom, but didn't the most recent question from readers address this issue? If I am not mistaken, I thought it specifically said that they are NOT replacements. Anyone have that information available?

(CNN) -- Soul singer and arranger Isaac Hayes, who won Grammy awards and an Oscar for the theme from the 1971 action film "Shaft," has died, sheriff's officials in Memphis, Tennessee, reported Sunday.

Singer Issac Hayes seen performing in the U.K. last year. Hayes was found dead Sunday at age 65.

Relatives found Hayes, 65, unconscious in his home next to a still-running treadmill, said Steve Schular, a spokesman for the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics attempted to revive him and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2 p.m., the sheriff's department said.

No foul play is suspected, the agency said in a written statement.

Hayes was a longtime songwriter and arranger for Stax Records in Memphis, playing in the studio's backup band and crafting tunes for artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave in the 1960s.

He released his first solo album in 1967.

In 1971, the theme from "Shaft" became a pop hit and won an Academy Award for best original theme song. The song and the movie score also won Grammy awards for best original score and movie theme.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
